First you will need to search for “graphlock” in your app store and download it. Then select “sign up” and select which persona you would like to register as: student, teacher, proctor, or parent. Once you finish registration, you must go to the email account you used to sign up where you will find an email from no-reply@graphlock.com. In this email, there will be a blue link to finish registration and validate your account. Once this is done, you are ready to open the app and sign in.

Here is a short video walking you through these steps:

Once you join a class and then join a session created by the session administrator (teacher, parent, or proctor) and your phone will be in a mode that will only allow you access to one app - GraphLock. Therefore, you cannot make or receive any texts, calls, or notifications. You also cannot close out of GraphLock or open any other app. The only thing you can do is make an emergency call by hitting the red phone symbol in the upper right corner of the screen. Doing this will notify the session administrator that you are attempting to make an emergency call. The session administrator (teacher, parent, proctor) cannot see anything on your device, nor can they control your device. Your device will be in Lockdown Mode for the time set by the session administrator and once the time runs out, your device will be back to normal. The session administrator can also unlock you from the session at any time.

Yes, and yes! The student can click on the red phone symbol while in Lockdown to make an emergency call. First a warning will pop up asking if he/she wants to leave Lockdown and alert the session administrator to make an emergency call. If a student selects “yes” the teacher will be notified that he/she has left the session right away and the student will then be able to make an emergency call.

To apply a promo code to your GraphLock account and upgrade it, follow the steps below depending on what type of device you have.

For Android: Click on “My Classes” and it will ask you to upgrade. Select “ok” and then you can simply type the given promo code directly into your app to upgrade. Here is a short video to walk you through the steps:

For iOS: After registering and validating your account, go to Safari on your device and then follow this link – graphlockapp://_______ where you will insert your promo code into the blank space.

For example, if your promo code is: ABC123 you would go to Safari on your device and type in: graphlockapp://ABC123. It will then upgrade your account. Here is a short video to walk you through the steps:

Teachers

Once you are in the app and click on ‘My Classes’, you can either create a new class or add students to an existing class. There are a couple ways students can join a class. You can provide them the unique class code and the students can then enter it into their device to join or you can email it to them by clicking on the envelope symbol in the upper right corner of your class. You can also manually add students by clicking on the plus symbol and entering in the student’s email address (it must be the email address tied to the student’s GraphLock account.) Here is a video to walk you through the steps:

To start a session, go to “My Courses” and select the pink triangle “go” symbol on the bottom row of the class you would like to put into Lockdown. From there, it will take you through the steps of starting the session. Here is a video to start a Lockdown session from your phone/tablet:

Here is a video walking you through the steps of creating a Lockdown session from the webapp on your computer:

Once you select the “go” pink triangle symbol on the bottom of the class you would like to put into Lockdown, it will first take you to the calculator customization screen. You will also see the unique session code to provide to your students in the upper left corner. This is the code they will enter to join the session. You can provide them the code to enter manually, you can click the “envelope” symbol to email it to your class, or you can click the “arrow” symbol to send your class a push notification and the code will be automatically entered into your student’s devices.

Students that are already in your class, will automatically be pending to join the session and you will see them in your monitoring platform. The students must enter the unique session Lockdown Code to join. You can also see the counter at the top showing the total number of students, those joined, and those pending. So, you can keep track of how many and who individually have joined. As the students are joining, you will then set the time and it will take you to the list of all your students. Notice the color by the student’s profile is tied to their current status with the session (joined - green, pending-orange, left-red.) Once your students have joined, you then select the pink triangle “go” symbol to start the Lockdown session. You can start and stop the session at any time, and students can join an active session as well. Here is a video to walk you through the steps:

Once you start to create a session, you will see a unique Lockdown session code. Provide this code to your students and they will enter it on their own devices to join. You can provide this code manually, by sending through an email, or through a push notification. You will be able to see as each student joins by the counter on top as well as the color change by their profile. If you have a new student that day who has not yet joined the class, you can either cancel the session and have them join the class and then restart the Lockdown session, or you can click the “add student” and enter the student’s email address to allow them to join the session automatically. Then the student will need to enter the Lockdown code on their end to join. Here is a video to walk you through the steps:

If the students are already in the class, then they simply need to click “join session” and follow the instructions to type in the unique Lockdown code. Then they will join right in with the other students. If a student is new to the class, then they will need to join the class and you will then add them to the session by clicking “add student” at the bottom and enter in their email associated with GraphLock.
The class code is the unique code a student must enter to join a class. The student is then in that specific class until you remove them from it, or you delete the class at the end of the school year/semester. The student cannot delete themselves from a class and they only must join the class once. The Lockdown session code is a unique code for that particular Lockdown session you are creating. The student will enter the Lockdown session code every time he/she is joining a new session.
When you start a Lockdown session by clicking the pink triangle on the class you would like to put into lockdown, you can customize the calculator for the class for the time you set. You can choose which features you would like the students to have access to and uncheck the features you do not want your students to see or use. You can select between: basic, scientific, trigonometric, graphing, matrices, statistics, and TVM.
Once you have created a Lockdown session and your students have joined, as soon as a student leaves the app, you will be notified on your GraphLock app (whether you are using a phone, tablet or computer.) Your app will make a noise, the bell symbol in the upper right corner will continuously move and the color by the student’s profile will move to the top of the list and turn red. You will also be able to keep track of the number of students who have joined, pending (so haven’t yet joined) and left (meaning they tried to leave lockdown.) Also, on the student’s end, once they do join the lockdown session - he/she will have a green bar across the top of the device. That gives you a visual as to which students are in lockdown and which aren’t. If a student does try to get out of lockdown, the green bar will go away on his/her device.

The good news is you do not have to watch the app at all times to see if a student does try to leave the Lockdown session. If you have the app in the background, it will send you a push notification on your device (phone or tablet) and on your computer, you will still be alerted with a noise to notify you. Here is a video to walk you through the steps:

As a teacher, you can run a Lockdown session from your phone, a tablet, or the webapp on a computer. If a student tries to leave a Lockdown session or do anything on their device besides use the calculator, you will be notified right away. On a computer, it will make a noise (make sure your volume is up) the bell will ring, and the student who is doing something he/she shouldn’t be doing will move to the top of your list of students and it will now be red by their profile. The counter will also dynamically change. On the student’s side, he/she will no longer have a green stripe across the top of his/her device. On your phone/tablet you will also be alerted by a noise, the bell ringing, student profile moving to the top of your list, and the counter dynamically changing. Also, you do not have to have the app open. If you are working on something else and a student tries to leave, you will receive a push notification and a red “1” will show up on the app. Once you open it, you will see which student is in question. Make sure while running a lockdown session, your volume is always up.
To remove a student from your class, swipe left on their profile and you will see a red trash can appear. Click this and then select “ok” to delete the student permanently from the class. Students cannot delete themselves from a class.
Swipe left student’s name in the Lockdown session and first a red unlock symbol will appear. This is how you can unlock a student from the session, if needed. Then to delete them from a session, swipe left again and you will see a red trash symbol appear. Click this and then “ok” to remove them from your list of students in the Lockdown session. Please note, this will not delete them from the class, just the Lockdown session you have created that day.
Yes, go to “my classes” and in the bottom row you will see a trash can symbol which will delete the entire class.
Lockdown sessions will stop in a couple of different ways. Either once the timer you set has run completely out, the session will automatically end and all the student’s devices will go back to normal. You can also click the pink square at the top and then select “ok” to stop the Lockdown session at any time. Then you can also unlock and removed individual students from the session at any time by swiping left on their profile and selecting “ok.”
The student can join the class and then you can either cancel out of the session (if you have already opened and started creating it) for the app to automatically pick up the new student or you can enter the student’s GraphLock email ID to manually add them into the session by clicking the “add new student” in the Lockdown session page. If you manually add them to the session, the student will still need to join your actual class using the course code.
When you click “cancel” during a session, it will take you out of the session and then you can create a new session. This is useful if you have a new student join the class or if you simply made a mistake on the Lockdown time etc.
When a student is joining a session on Android, there will be a pop up asking the student to allow GraphLock to manage calls. Please note, this simply allows GraphLock to block all incoming calls during the Lockdown session. GraphLock has no control over the calls nor does the app get any data from the student’s device. If the student selects “deny” he/she will not be able to join the Lockdown session until they click “ok.”
Yes, if you need to re-add a student to lockdown either have them enter the code again or you can add them manually via their GraphLock email ID. You can also send them another email or push notification with the Lockdown code to automatically join.
This will allow you to email the class/lockdown session code to the student(s). To use this, you must have a default mail account setup on your device/computer. When you click the envelope symbol, it will open your default mail account.

First you must enable Guided Access Mode. Please watch the video on how to do this, or you can find the steps above under the question “How do I enable Guided Access Mode on iOS?”

Once you have set up Guided Access Mode, you will be able to use the shortcut of triple clicking the home button to enable it and join a Lockdown session. Please note, your device will also need to be in silent mode to join. Here is a video to walk you through the steps:

Here are the steps to joining a Lockdown Session:

1. Put your device in silent mode. On iPads, you will need to turn down the volume as well as click the bell symbol (silent mode) on the bottom swipe up screen.
2. Triple click the home button to enable Guided Access Mode (or go through the steps to do the initial Guided Access setup first in “Settings”)
3. Manually type in the unique session code provided to you by your session administrator (teacher, parent, proctor) or copy and paste it from the email they sent to you, or accept the push notification to join.
4. Once you join, it will take you to a green screen while you wait for the session administrator to start the Lockdown session
To join a lockdown session on an Android, you must allow GraphLock to manage your calls and then enable Pin App Mode. The reason you must allow GraphLock to manage your calls is to simply block them from coming through while you are in lockdown. We cannot see or control anything on your device. It will still show you if someone and who is calling, but you cannot answer it while in Lockdown. The Pin App Mode needs to be enabled to ensure you are not opening other apps.

Here are the steps to joining a Lockdown Session:

1. Click “join session”
2. First you will receive a popup asking you to allow GraphLock to manage your calls. Click “do not show me this again” so that you do not have to do this step every time you join a session and then click “allow”
3. Now either manually type in the session code provided to you by the session administrator (teacher, parent, proctor) copy and paste it from the email they sent, or accept the push notification they sent asking you to join
4. Once the unique Lockdown code is entered, you will receive another popup asking you to enable Pin App Mode. Please select “OK” then you can join the session
5. You will be taken to a green screen while you are waiting for the session administrator to start the session.
Please note if you select “deny” on allow GraphLock to manage your calls or on enabling Pin App Mode, you will not be able to join a Lockdown session.
Yes, if you try to leave Guided Access Mode, your teacher (or session administrator - parent/proctor) will be notified right away. Your name will turn red and it will alert the administrator. The green lockdown bar will also be removed from your screen showing you have tried to get out of lockdown mode.
Yes, absolutely! Just open the app and you will have full access to the calculator and your phone will function as normal.
In the Just Lock Me mode, you will enable Guided Access Mode by triple clicking the home button (for iOS) and set the lock down time. Then the green lockdown stripe will show up and you will be in lockdown until the timer runs out.
No, you cannot remove yourself from a class once you have joined. Your teacher can remove you from a class.
If you need to make an emergency call, you can click the red phone symbol and then ok on the pop up to do so. This will still alert your session administrator that you have left the Lockdown session. Also, if you force your way out of Lockdown, your session administrator will be alerted. There are a couple of ways that you are removed from a Lockdown session. When the timer runs out, your device will go back to normal. The session administrator can stop the session at any time, or he/she can remove individual students from the session.
This simply allows GraphLock to block any call that comes through while you are in Lockdown. GraphLock does not collect any of your data nor get any information from your device. Selecting “allow” will let you join the lockdown session and will just block any calls from coming through until the session is over.
It will pop up again and ask you to “allow.” If you do not “allow” you will not be able to join the lockdown session to use the GraphLock app.
Your account with GraphLock is tied to your email address. You can update your name, password, school and grade under “Manage Profile.” To change your email address, please contact us at: info@graphlock.com
Yes, just like with other apps, you will need to repurchase to upgrade to premium features when using different operating systems.

No, if a student tries to do anything other than use the GraphLock calculator, the session administrator (teacher, proctor, parent) will automatically be notified. The student’s name will show up in red on his/her screen, it will make a noise and the green lockdown bar on the student’s device will go away. The student can make an emergency call if needed, but this will still notify the session administrator.

Proctors

As a proctor, you can run and monitor a Lockdown session from your phone/tablet or a computer at: graphlockapp.comIf a student tries to leave Lockdown Mode, your app or computer will make a noise to alert you, the bell symbol in the upper right corner will shake and the color by the student’s profile will turn red. You will also see at the top, it will show one as “left” in the red counter. The student’s device will also no longer have a green bar across the top, meaning he/she is no longer in Lockdown.

If you are using a computer, please make sure to have the volume up so that you are alerted right away. On a phone/tablet, you will receive a push notification to notify you if a student has left Lockdown. Here is a video to walk you through the steps:

To join a student (or students) into a session, just open “start session” and provide the student with the Lockdown Code. He/she will then select “join session” on his/her own device and enter the Lockdown Code. You can provide the student the code to enter manually or you can also email it to him/her. You will only need to start one session for multiple students. As students check in to test, you can simply have them join the already started session using the same code. The Lockdown session queue will keep track of how many students are in Lockdown and if any have attempted to leave Lockdown with the counters on the top part of the screen. All students that are currently in Lockdown will have green next to their profile and he/she will also have a green stripe across the top of his/her device. If a student attempts to leave, you will be notified and it will turn red next to his/her profile. The queue will also keep track of how many minutes each student has been in lockdown.
To remove an individual student from a session, just click on their profile (or swipe left if you are on a phone/tablet) and then you will see an unlock symbol pop up. Click on the unlock symbol and he/she will be removed from Lockdown. If you want to remove all students and/or just end the session, simply click the pink square “stop” symbol in the upper right corner to completely end the session and remove all students from Lockdown.

8. Now whenever you need to enable Guided Access Mode, simply triple click the home button on your device
9. If you are having any trouble with this, please contact us at: info@graphlock.com
To join a lockdown session on an Android, your child must allow GraphLock to manage your calls and then enable Pin App Mode. When your child goes to join a session, they will receive a pop up asking them to allow GraphLock to manage their calls and they must select “ok.” If they select, deny they will receive the pop up again. They will not be able to join a Lockdown session until they hit “ok.” Then they will receive another pop up after entering in the Lockdown session code asking them to allow Pin app mode. They will then be able to join the session.
If your child either makes an emergency call or tries to force his/her way out of Lockdown, you will be notified right away on your GraphLock app (whether you are using a phone, tablet or computer.) Your app will make a noise, the bell symbol in the upper right corner will continuously move and the color by your child’s profile will turn red. Also, on your child’s end, once they do join the lockdown session - he/she will have a green bar across the top of the device. That gives you a visual as to if your child is in lockdown or not. If your child does try to get out of lockdown, the green bar will go away. If you are managing the Lockdown session on your phone or tablet, you will receive a push notification telling you your child has tried to leave Lockdown. On your computer, you will be alerted with a noise. Here is a video to walk you through the steps:

Your child can click on the red phone symbol while in Lockdown to make an emergency call. First a warning will pop up asking if he/she wants to leave Lockdown and alert the session administrator to make an emergency call. If your child selects “yes” you will be notified that he/she has left the session right away and your child will then be able to make an emergency call.
No, after your child has enabled Guided Access Mode for iOS or Pin Mode for Android, and has joined the session you created, he/she will not be able to access anything other than the calculator. It will block all texts, notifications and calls from coming through. If your child does try to get out of Lockdown mode, you will be alerted right away.
Download GraphLock onto each device and register yourself as a parent and your child as a student. After registering and validating both account, you will then be able to log in and add your child.

You will add your child under the “My Children” tab on your Home screen. To add a child, select “add child” and then enter in your child’s GraphLock email ID. Please note, it must be the email associated with your child’s GraphLock profile. Your child cannot delete him/herself after you have added them. Once added, you can then put them in Lockdown Mode by starting a session.
With GraphLock, if you have multiple children on your account, you can set their Lockdown sessions at different times and for different lengths of time! Here is a video to walk you through the steps:

To start a Lockdown session for a child, click on the “pencil” symbol under their name to first edit the session. It will first take you to a screen to customize the calculator if you would like to do so, meaning cancel out features you do not want them using during that time. You will also see a unique code at the top. This the code you must provide to your child that he/she will enter in on their device to join the Lockdown session. It can be manually entered, or you can click the “envelop” symbol where it will be emailed directly to them, or you can click the “arrow” symbol to send them a push notification that automatically puts the code into your child’s device for them.
